Lion of the Desert is the action/drama epic of the struggle of Omar Mukhtar (Anthony Quinn), He was Quran teacher and the leader of the Muslim resistance in Libya in the 1920s and 30s against the imperialism of Mussolini and the Italian army.

In 1911 Italy sent its modern army to north of Africa (Libya) on the other side of Mediterranean Sea. It was a war, strange war between deep inside faith of Muslim Bedouin troops on horseback against modern Italian army machine. It?s a horse against tank.

In 1929 the dictator Benito Mussolini (Rod Steiger) appointed the famous slaughterer General Rodolfo Graziani (Oliver Reed) to crush the rebellion and restore the glories of Imperial Rome and THE TERRIBLE STORY HAD BEGUN.
