The album debuted at number five on the U.S. Billboard 200, with 138,000 copies sold.[2] It debuted at number ten in the U.K. and on the week ending 22 July climbed to number five[3] the album has now reached number 2 in the UK and number fifteen in France.[4] Two non-singles, "Release" and "Apologize", have already peaked at numbers ninety-two and ninety-one on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively. Additionally, "Release" will be featured in the upcoming EA Sports game Madden NFL 08.[5] On April 16, the song "Laff At 'Em" was leaked to the Internet. It was originally supposed to be on the album but was not completed in time. It features Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake. The song is now surnamed as the "Give It to Me" remix. Another unreleased track called "I See U", featuring Attitude and D.O.E., was also leaked to the internet.
The album has so had the a higher charting position on UK chart since 'The Way I Are' was released the album has now reached number 1 on UK Album Chart and number 1 on the UK R&B Album Chart.
An instrumental version of the album was released July 31, 2007 on the iTunes Music Store.
As of August 9, 2007, Shock Value has sold 514,300 copies in the U.S. and is at #26 on the charts.
