Following the re-issue of the six original Chrysalis studio albums in 2001, this was the first Blondie "Best of" compilation to be digitally remastered and also to include their comeback hit "Maria", a UK #1 in February 1999. Greatest Hits also contains the four 'special mixes' by producer Mike Chapman that appeared on the band's very first hits compilation, 1981's The Best of Blondie.

FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) is superior over MP3 in preserving audio quality of the source (audio CD). However, FLAC file sizes are also bigger than MP3 (roughly 10x MP3 file sizes). FLAC files can be played with [Winamp (or other player that support FLAC).
